Connect Claude

Connect Claude

Add Construction AI to Claude Desktop or Claude on the web as a custom connector, sign in, and choose what Claude can see.

Claude connects to Construction AI over the Model Context Protocol. You add one URL as a custom connector, sign in to Construction AI, and grant access. There is no installer, no configuration file and nothing stored on your machine: your client holds a token that you can revoke at any time.

The connector URL

https://app.constructionai.io/api/mcp

Claude Desktop

  1. Open Settings, then Connectors.
  2. Choose Add custom connector.
  3. Name it Construction AI and paste the connector URL. Add it.
  4. Choose Connect. A Construction AI sign-in opens in your browser.
  5. Sign in with your usual Construction AI account, then grant access on the consent screen (see below).

Claude returns to the conversation with the connector enabled. Ask it something about a project to confirm: "Which projects can you see?"

Claude on the web

The steps are the same from Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector. On a Team or Enterprise plan an owner or admin adds the connector for the organisation; members then enable it for themselves.

You decide what this connection can do, and you can decide differently for each client you connect.

  • Standard access is on by default: projects, drawings, specifications, programme, communications, RFIs, submittals, RAMS, site management, tender packages, the library, project knowledge and financial headers.
  • Advanced, commercially sensitive scopes are off by default and sit under their own heading: financial detail, pricing, the purchase ledger, every write scope, and asking the in-app assistant. Tick only what this agent should have.
  • Projects: all the projects you can see, or a list you pick.
  • Expiry: how long the grant lasts before you have to sign in again.

A connection never has more access than you do. See What your agent can see for the full list.

Disconnecting

Remove the connector in your client, or revoke the grant from Settings, then Integrations in Construction AI. Either ends the connection immediately.

If something goes wrong

  • The sign-in page does not open. Check the URL is exactly as above, including /api/mcp.
  • Claude says a tool is not available. The scope it needs was not granted. Reconnect and tick it under Advanced.
  • Claude cannot find a project. Ask it to list your projects first; it resolves names and numbers from there.
